So I was working on my paper and I got thinking about some of Locke's claims. He commonly refers to the entire human race as Adam's descendants. Locke says, “Firstly. That Adam had not, either by the natural right of fatherhood or by the positive donation from God, any such authority over his children, nor dominion over the world, as is pretended.” This is basically saying that we are equal because we came from the same ancestor. This ruins the monarch's claim that they have royal blood. If they have the same blood as rest of us, why should they rule us?
Locke continues on by saying, “That if his heirs had, there being no law of nature nor positive law of God that determines which is the right heir in all cases that may arise, the right of succession, and consequently of bearing rule, could not have been certainly determined.” This an interesting claim by saying no person has more of a right to rule. No lineage is superior to another.
